ABOUT ME
I’m probably not your typical blogger. I first started my blog when I was a sophomore in High School. High School took up most of my time, which made finding time to post, test out new recipes and take professional-looking photographs a bit difficult. Luckily, I was a determined 15 year old and writing a blog was a whole lot more appealing to me than school. My blog is my baby. It’s been the greatest joy of my life watching it grow and watching a wonderful community of food lovers come together.
I try very hard to live a comfortable life… especially on chilly winter mornings. I enjoy fuzzy blankets, watching Harry Potter, having my dogs curl up next to my feet and drinking hot chocolate. These amazing things make living in Minnesota bearable. They might even make it… dare I say, enjoyable.
I started college in 2017. My life changed drastically when I decided to change my major from business management to graphic design. My real passion in life is art and hopefully I will grow a business. Although, I may need a business partner who has more of an inclination towards business.
Living in the dorms has been both a blessing and a curse. I don’t exactly have a kitchen near my room, which is truly a pain in my butt. However, it has forced me to be more creative and resourceful and I am pretty grateful about that. It has been absolutely wonderful meeting so many amazing people and learning more about living independently. I plan to write quite a bit in my posts about college.
THE BLOG
Wake Up to Waffles is my favorite creation. I’ve always had a passion for business, art, eating healthy and enjoying life. My mind is always bursting with creative ideas, so I thought I’d put some of them to good use. I’m very happy that I began my creative journey with this blog.
For the past 5 years, I’ve been passionate about staying healthy and encouraging others to lead a healthier lifestyle. My hope is that this blog will inspire people to make a positive change in their life without having to resort to eating bland, unappetizing food. The recipes I create are meant to be lighter, (more or less) sugar and butter-free versions of the dishes people who are trying to be healthy will actually feel excited to eat.
Winters are rough here in Minnesota. I’ve found that the only thing that makes me feel better when its dark, snowing and below zero is waking up to waffles. My dad used to make waffles for breakfast and the sweet sweet smell of them cooking would wake me up and make me excited to start my day. Just thinking about it brings back warm, cozy memories. It’s those memories that inspire me to create and share recipes that are worthy of waking your family up to.
I hope my blog inspires you to wake up a loved one with the smell of fresh waffles. If you want to show someone you love them, waffles will for sure warm their heart.
ABOUT THE PUPS
These are my babies: Rudy (on the left) and Jim (on the right). They both love waffles, too. Many years ago, my dad and I would give Jim the leftovers whenever we made waffles… He never complained. Rudy is our new addition, as you can see from his baby face. We found him at the farmer’s market; a woman was trying to get rid of the last of a 14-puppy litter. Rudy has since grown a bit and is becoming a handsome, smart and very obedient pup. He also loves it when I cook.
You can read more about Jim & Rudy here.
