It’s hard to believe, but I am moving in to college tomorrow morning. It’s insane how long I’ve been thinking about the day I’d move into my dorm and now the time has finally come.
When I was in elementary school, I was obsessed with my future dorm room. I spent hours drawing blueprints of the room and searched the internet for interior design ideas. In middle school, I started writing a list of things to bring with me to college and things to buy. Let’s just say that I’ve been thinking about this day for a very, very long time.
I’m not too nervous about tomorrow, but I’m definitely not a fan of the unknown. There are a lot of unknowns that come with this new chapter of my life, which kind of scares me. I do feel unusually prepared, though. I spent the entire summer working 30-40 hours a week to save money for a new laptop and things for my dorm room. This summer has been a great learning experience and has prepared me for life on my own.
One of the major things I debated bringing with me to college was my blender. I wasn’t sure whether to bring something so large and noisy. I eventually came to the conclusion that I would use the blender all the time and it was worth it. I signed up for the smallest possible meal plan, so I will need to make 1 or 2 of my meals per day. I won’t have easy access to a kitchen, so most of what I eat will need to be made in my dorm. I will definitely work on a post about this in a week or so.
