Got another great recipe for you guys! This one is a bit unusual for the blog. I don’t typically post drinks, but there’s no better recipe to start with.
Since moving back to campus, I’ve been drinking a lot of coffee. I splurged and bought myself a fancy espresso machine and milk frother (which has been on my wishlist since I started drinking coffee.) I bought a Nespresso, which yes, I know is not the best for the environment. I used to have a Keurig, which I won at a raffle, and I was appalled by the amount of waste those pods generated. A friend of mine bought me a reusable one for that machine, but I’m having difficulty finding a reusable pod for the new machine I have.
If anyone knows about a good reusable espresso pod for the Nespresso Vertuo Next machine, let me know! I have some non-reusable pods that came with the machine and when those run out, I don’t want to buy more. Experimenting with espresso drinks has become a new hobby. I’ve been playing around with different sweeteners, different plant based milks, and chocolates.
This combination of dark espresso, cold froth, maple, and sea salt is fantastic!
- 2 shots espresso
- 1 cup oat milk (or other milk that froths easily)
- 1-1.5 Tablespoon pure maple syrup
- pinch of sea salt
- ice
- Make 2 shots espresso in your espresso/coffee machine.
- Pour maple syrup into espresso and stir to combine. Add salt and stir.
- Add milk to frother (or high-speed blender) and froth/blend until airy and light.
- Add ice to espresso and pour frothed milk over the top.
- Stir and drink right away!
Nespresso will send you a free recycle bag to send your pods back in, for recycling. You can add a couple of them to your next pods order. The postage is paid on the bag. So, you just stick it in your mailbox and send them back.
Thanks Alyssa! This is fantastic. I had no idea Nespresso did that. I will have to give it a try 🙂
Also….thanks for the recipe!! Trying it out tomorrow morning?
Nespresso recycles their pods, even providing the postage paid envelope to ship them back. They even sell products made from the recycled aluminum.
